Partner chapels and organisations
We value partnerships with other Marian Chapels in Yorkshire. We recommend a visit to these sites: they are beautiful examples of old chapels that have been restored.
Two (Wakefield and Rotherham) are on bridges in towns, and they create an aura of peace within the urban context. They are a reminder of the many Marian chapels on bridges before the Reformation. They are attached to the local Anglican churches (Wakefield Cathedral and Rotherham Minster).
The other (Mount Grace) is on a Cleveland hillside overlooking the Vale of York, in which there is the ruined Carthusian Priory of Mount Grace. The chapel was originally the lady chapel of the priory. This is a Roman Catholic shrine and is owned and managed by the Diocese of Middlesbrough.
The Chapel of Our Lady of the Crag is also a member of the Small Pilgrim Places Network.
